I never ever update this anymore. A lot has been going on. I've been pretty busy but i'm pretty stressed and needed to vent some of my concerns/confusions. So, this time, it's official. My father is retiring and moving to Florida (along with my mother & grandmother, naturally). Now, here's the issue: my parents expect me to move with them. I hate Florida. I mean, it's nice to visit, but i'm not big on the humidity and hurricanes, lol. Not to mention, it is "the retirement state" unless you're living in Miami or something. Anyway, here are my options:
1.] Move with them; work; go to school; save money; move back. 2.] Move into Lily's basement apt; experience; grow. 3.] Move into Matt's house where i'd live for free, not have any financial stress, help out around the house, but not have the sense of having my own place.
Now, i hate the thought of number one. I basically refuse to go that route. haha. But it's gonna be really tough breaking the news to my parents. I mean, they already know that i don't want to go with them, but my mother keeps trying to guilt trip me into going & telling me that i'm not old enough to live on my own etc, etc. What she doesn't realize is that i'm a lot more responsible than she thinks.
I've always been pretty responsible. I've had a job ever since i was 14. I've never been unemployed. I go to school fulltime and pay for it on my own. At the moment, i work part time, but i'm currently in the process of applying for a fulltime position that i should get. If i do get that position, i'll be making close to $27,000 a year (prior to taxes). For someone with only a highschool diploma, that's not too shabby. The apartment would be cheap being that the person that owns it is one of my best friends. It's a cozy little apartment. One bedroom, bathroom, livingroom, & kitchen which is all i need.
The only real issue i have with this is that the apartment is in Paterson. If i get this fulltime position, it'll be in Woodbridge. That's a pretty far drive. As we all know, gas isn't cheap & it'll probably be a hassel driving to & from work with the traffic on the pkwy.
Now, Marta (Matt's mother) told me that she's going to fix up the attic. Turn it into a nice bedroom & told me that i'm welcome to move in. She said i wouldn't have to pay rent; i'd just help out around the house. So, this makes the most sense financially. I wouldn't have to stress about rent & i can still go to UCC. Not to mention, Woodbridge would be a 10 minute drive as opposed to 45min-1hour. Kean (the school i plan on transferring to) is also damn close. The only real issue i have with this is that i won't really have much privacy. I'll be living in a house with 4 other people. I'll be sharing the same kitchen & bathroom. I won't feel comfortable bringing friends over because it wont be my house. You know? & because of that, i'd have to go out to hang out with friends & such & i wouldn;t feel comfortable using the house as, like, a hotel or something.
I don't know. I'm pretty stressed/confused. If anyone wants to give me their insight, it would be greatly appreciated. Much love. ♥
